PR Bandits Saturday Morning Run – 12 South Free-For-All

East Nasty is partnering with the ‘PR Bandits’ who are hosting supported long runs on Saturday mornings. Come one, come all! This was one of our largest turnouts of the year and only the second time we will have done an organized run in wonderful 12 South Neighborhood.

We will start from Sevier Park, meeting in the main parking lot on Clayton Ave, near Granny White Pike at 8am. Being the end of fall racing season, this will be a free-for-all run. Pick your distance, pick your route! You likely know the area from running Country Music a time or two, other runs down Belmont, or you should be making friends and have a running buddy to show you around.

With this being our second to last run, I would love to have everyone get together for brunch after. Bring an extra shirt and plan on meeting at Edley's BBQ after the run for a southern style brunch!

Here's a 5mi route option - http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/938952317

RSVP here and join the PR Bandits Facebook Group for more info, get run invites, and to link up with other runners. Saturday supported runs will be held at various favorite running routes across Nashville. You can also email Brian Johnson at brian.m.johnson@me.com if you have any questions.

Please read - there is lots of great stuff coming!

The Run

This week is our signature run!  By completing it you because an official bumper-sticker displaying East Nasty.

The Nasty

Post Run

After the run, NRC will be hosting their monthly pint night,  but they are doing something special tomorrow:

Clothes needed for the kids at Monroe Carell Jr Hospital at Vanderbilt! Pint Night is the last chance to bring NEW clothing to Nashville Running Company and next week NRC will take the clothing to the children!  The hospital is in need of elastic pants and shorts, pajamas, and short or long sleeve shirts between the sizes of 2T and adult XL. Thanks for joining with us in helping them out!  (from Lee)

Christmas Party - Next Week!

Every year, East Nasty hosts a Christmas gathering to celebrate the past year, and look forward to the new one.   Next Wednesday night, we’ll have our normal run (it’s route #1 which is only 5k), then everyone is invited down the street to 1306 Woodland (this is where Phil and Gretchen Zimmerman live).  We’ll have soup (white chicken chili and a vegan butternut squash), beer and maybe some sweets.  We’ll also have some East Nasty gear for sale and maybe some new stuff to try on.

All we ask is that you bring $10 (this allows us to renew our membership with the Road Runners Club of America, and helps offset some of our other costs…)   Everyone is welcome, and if you can’t make the run that night or if you forget your $10 please join us at the party anyway!  It will start right after the run (about 7:00).

Finally, if you are a maker of sweets (all endurance athletes are lovers of sweets...) please consider bringing something to share.   It would be much appreciated!

Half/Full Marathon Training - Starting in January!

is right around the corner....details are here.   Please register if you are planning on joining us.

Wednesday 11/25

Pre-Thanksgiving Run..

We usually have a smaller crowd on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so we get to run one of our old routes....  This week we are going to run Benji.

Benji

If you have run up 14th street recently, we need to stay to run on the left side of 14th, and that will allow you to cross over Eastland in the crosswalk.   Now that is a busy intersection, so be courteous to cars - which means that we need to stop and let cars go...

Thanksgiving Morning Run

If your not sure what to do Thanksgiving morning, but want to burn off some calories before the eating begins, you need to read below...

The Riverside Screw is a group run in East Nashville on Thanksgiving morning. Parking is available in Shelby Park under the railroad bridge near the entrance of Shelby Bottoms Greenway. Meet there at 7:50 AM. We will walk to Riverside using the new Shelby Bottoms trailhead. Run starts at 8 AM. We will run along Riverside to McGavock Pike and back (about 5 miles). This is an out-and-back fun run, so feel free to turn around whenever you want. This will be hilly. If you want flat, this is not the run for you. This is NOT a closed course. Obey all traffic signs. Runner assumes all liability.

If you can't join us tonight or Thursday morning, have a fantastic holiday and we will see you next Wednesday!

Route #10

Wednesday, 6pm at the corner of 11th and Holly in East Nashville.

It's dark.  Don't assume the people around you are going to be lit up... If you don't own any reflective gear, head over to NRC before the run to get some.

I love this route, but there is one place in particular that you need to be careful:  (1) When you turn left onto 14th from Sevier, you need to cross the street and run on the sidewalk on the right side of the road.   (2)Be very careful crossing 14th.  For those of you who know the area, make sure you alert those around you.

Route #10: The Electric Slide

Destination Race

We are planning our first destination race to Chattanooga the weekend of March 4 - 6.   There is a 5k, half marathon, full marathon and a marathon relay.  We have a discount code for 20% off ("eastnasty"), and there are some great deals on hotels.     Finally, if you are joining us for half/full marathon training, this race fits in perfectly!    Here is more information.

Looking Ahead

Here are a couple of dates to keep in mind:

(1) Wednesday, December 16 - our annual Christmas Party.  Everyone is welcome.  It's a great way to celebrate another great year.

(2) Saturday, January 2 - Our first day of half / full marathon training.

Stay tuned for details...including more info on the Riverside Screw...

PR Bandits Saturday Morning Run – Edwin Warner Harpeth River Greenway

East Nasty is partnering with the ‘PR Bandits’ who are hosting supported long runs on Saturday mornings. However, due to a few big races going on this weekend, a number of people are gone and this route with be SELF SUPPORTED. We will meet at Edwin Warner park this weekend (pull in the lot to the right off the main drive) at 7:30am and hit the Harpeth River Greenway. It curls around Ensworth and then follows along the river. It's a nice, fairly new greenway where you are able to get mileage of your choosing.

Wednesday, November 4th: Pace Leaders...

Pace Leaders... Starting in January, the 2016 edition of our Rock n' Roll Half or Full Marathon training will begin. Right now we are looking for some volunteers pace leaders.  Pace leaders train a group to run a specific goal pace for the half marathon, and will finish the training by leading them through the race.   Leading a training group is a great way to give back, not to mention a lot of fun.  And as a thank you, we will reimburse you for your entry fee.   We have a bunch of leaders already, but we still several more volunteers.  Specifically we need leaders for half marathon goal times of 1:30, 1:40, 2:15 and 2:30.  Interested?   Email David Harris at David@eastnastyforlife.com for more specifics.

If you are looking to participate we’ll have a detailed outline plus a place to sign up soon, but here are some specifics if you want to plan ahead.   1) We meet on Saturday mornings at 8:00 starting the first Saturday in January through race day.  2) Our running requirement is that you need to be able to run 5 miles without stopping by January 1.  3) We also have free workouts on Thursdays and of course our Wednesday night runs.  4) It’s free.  Look for more details next week.

Reflective Gear

I don't completely understand the rationale behind turning the clock back, all I know is that it's really dark by 6 p.m.    From now on you need to wear something that either reflects or emits light!

Coldest Beer in Town

6 p.m. at the corner of 11th and Holly in East Nashville.

P.S.  Pint night is postponed until next week.  That means you need to grab a friend and visit a local establishment after the run.
