Bree Roy
This gal's been around our running group for a couple years now, and is well overdue to become an East Nasty of the Week. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Bree Roy.
About two years ago, Bree was feeling lonely and homesick for her home state of Michigan. Having been in Nashville for three months, she hadn't made a single friend. This is hard to believe if you know Bree, because she's outgoing, hilarious and basically a social magnet. But alas, a strenuous work schedule and lots of weekends spent back in MI left her dry in the friend department. She found our little running group on the ol' interwebs, and before she knew it - BAM! Awesome friends, and running partners to boot.
What makes Bree's East Nasty story even more unique is she hit up two other running groups before ours but neither compared to the welcoming nature of our group. Props East Nasties, way to make newbies feel included.
Bree's first love is soccer, and she went to undergrad and grad school in MI on soccer scholarships. Her senior year in undergrad she was bummed soccer season was over and decided to try her hand (foot?) at track. Turns out she's kind of a rockstar at the 1500 - she clocked a 4:58 back in the day. Holy smokes!
The New Orleans Rock & Roll Marathon this past February was her first full, and she finished within 42 seconds of her BHAG goal (that's Big Hairy Audacious Goal - you know, the one that seems almost impossible and you keep to yourself for fear you might not achieve it). Congrats Bree!
When not running, you can find Bree traveling, doting on her new puppy, training for a triathlon (yes, she does those too!), or spending time with her 10 nieces and nephews. Fun fact: she's the youngest of five, and the only girl. She says this explains a lot. : )
