Lee Wilson
Well folks, this East Nasty of the Week has been in process for a little over two weeks now, but due to unseen circumstances (such as Lee getting into a skiing accident and spending a week in the hospital), it is just now becoming a reality. So let me introduce the newest member of the ENOW community, Lee Wilson!!!
Lee was born and raised in St. Helens, Oregon, which is just North of Portland. As early as middle school, he showed keen ability in both track and cross country. Throughout his high school years he received several state awards in both cross country and track. In fact, just a few years ago, Lee was inducted into his high school’s Hall of Fame. That’s right folks, we have a Hall-a-Famer amongst us!!!
When it was time for college, he was recruited by THE school for running in the world, the University of Oregon. Lee loved being a part of such a historic place, and felt very privileged to be surrounded by incredible coaches and world class runners. As a gift one season, one of his coaches gave Lee one of Steve Prefontaine’s international medals. Unfortunately, Lee was injured during his Junior and Senior year of college, and therefore feels he did not reach his true potential while there.
Since college Lee has lived in San Diego, Portland, New York City (on the Upper West Side!) and now Nashville. He is married to the lovely Anglea McCorkle Wilson (who was nice enough to answer questions for me so I could write this!), and they were going to host this year’s Christmas party until Lee got into his accident.
From the reports we have received so far, Lee is doing better and is out of the hospital. We hope that he has a speedy recovery, and can at least join us out at 3 Crow soon enough. If you would like to send Lee some well wishes, please feel free to add a comment to this post so he can read it.
