Wednesday Nov 21 - Three Turkey Trots
Pre-Thanksgiving Run - Route #8
Yes! We do meet for a run the day before Thanksgiving. In fact, we have not missed a Wednesday run since 2008. We usually have a smaller crowd on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so things are a little more casual. This week is Route #8: Rick’s Market – which is not only run number 8, but also a figure 8.
We meet at the corner of 11th & Holly at 6pm. We run every Wednesday – rain or shine, hot or cold. If you are a run/walker and want to get a head start, meet at 5:45pm and join our Lasty Nasty Group. You can READ HERE for more details on how our Wednesday night runs work.
Thanksgiving Morning Runs
Maybe you're running that other hardware inspired name race on the west side on Thursday morning , but if you're like me, you would rather avoid the crowd and traffic and burn off some pre-turkey calories here on the East Side. We have a couple of FREE options for you - both in Shelby Park, one earlier than the other.
The Riverside Screw is a free group run in East Nashville on Thanksgiving morning - and i'm pretty sure it was voted Nashville's best Thanksgiving Day run (recount results pending). The weather will be perfect for high fives, chest bumps and running a few gentle hills. All details posted on www.riversidescrew.com. Click on the link to learn more about the post-run brunch. Sign up to bring your favorite dish. Bring a friend. Win a prize. All are welcome. Parking is available in Shelby Park under the railroad bridge near the entrance of Shelby Bottoms Greenway. Meet there at 7:40 AM. The run starts at 8 AM.
Go East Go Eat is another free group run on Thanksgiving morning. Meet at 6:20am at the Shelby Bottom Nature Center for a 5 mile or 3.14 mile run followed by breakfast at Eastwood Christian Church (1601 Eastland Ave.) at 8am. All are welcome to the run and breakfast.
Sneakers4funds and Small Business Saturday Sale at NRC
Make room for all your new Black Friday stuff and give back to those in need! Our pals at Nashville Running Company have partnered with Sneakers4Funds which collects gently worn shoes to go to microenterprises in developing nations. Even better, this partnership allows NRC to provide funds from donated sneakers to a local non-profit of our choice – and they’ve selected East Nasty ! It’s a win-win-win! For more info, check out http://sneakers4funds.com/. So, gather your used shoes, drop them in a bin at NRC, and help out others!! I hear they are having a killer sale on Saturday for Small Business Saturday - which is also Lee Wilson's birthday!
Holiday Party
Our annual Holiday Party is set for Wednesday December 5th. We’ll have our normal run, then immediately afterward everyone is invited to join us at Smith & Lentz Brewing for some food, brews, and fun. We’ll have complimentary chili/soup and S&L will be offering a discount on pints. Smith & Lentz is kid friendly. This is also a time where we get a list of our “members”. East Nasty is organized and recognized non-profit status under the umbrella of the Road Runners Club of America, and there are costs associated with that along with our operations. So, if you consider yourself a part of East Nasty, we ask each of you to bring $$ to help us offset these costs. This allows us to keep doing all the things we do – such as offer free half and full marathon training, a free couch to 5k program, our big Post-Marathon Party, insurance for the club, etc. We may also have some East Nasty gear for sale if you are looking for Christmas gifts!
2019 Half and Full Marathon Training
