Wednesday, March 25: The Nasty
The Nasty This week is our signature route, The Nasty. It's about 6 miles and features several hills.
6 p.m. at the corner of 11th and Holly.
Being Good Neighbors
Always remember, running with 200 people is different than running by yourself. Run on sidewalks when they are available, and never run more than 2 abreast. Understand that whatever you do, the 20 people behind you are probably going to follow your lead. Meaning don't take any chances. For example, right after the 2 mile mark on tonight's run, you need to cross Eastland to run on the sidewalk. Be very careful when making this crossing!
Thursday Night Workout
If you are looking to improve your fitness and your running knowledge, Thursday nights are for you. Meet at the corner of 11th and Holly at 6 p.m. for a structured track workout. If you have never done intervals on the track - they are the final step for maximizing fitness. If you consider aerobic running as the "cake" (i.e. long runs, tempo runs, etc...), fast intervals on the track are the icing. But what makes cake good?? The icing! The point of that terrible analogy is that fast interval running should be done in limited amounts - but they yield impressive gains in fitness.
Saturday Long Run
If you are running the half marathon, the next two Saturdays are key. This week we are running either 14 or 16 miles, and next week we are doing a long run that gets progressively faster. Also, Saturday will also be our final time meeting at LP field and running the race course. Please join us! 8 a.m. for half marathoners, 7:30 a.m. for full marathoners.
