November 30...
I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving and feel ready to face the holiday season in full force. Just to reassure everyone, we have not missed a Wednesday run since June 2008, and will be meeting all through December!
Christmas Party
Post run on December 14th, we will have our 4th annual East Nasty Christmas Party. Phil and Gretchen Zimmerman will be hosting (1306 Woodland) - an easy 3 minute walk from our 11th and Holly meeting location. Everyone is welcome, and here's how its going to work:
Bring a bowl and spoon. Sounds strange, but we're going to have a (giant) pot of white chicken chili and one of butternut squash soup. So to save the environment and the Zimmerman's dish washer, we are asking everyone to bring their own dish and spoon. What else can you bring? I'm glad you asked:
Bring $5. It's time for us to renew our RRCA membership. It costs us $5 per member. So please help us out and bring $5 and take a moment to give us your mailing address... (We'll have a sign in sheet at the party.)
Dessert / Sides. Show off your holiday cooking skills, or just buy something at the store... Like I said, we will have soups, so we just need some sides and desserts. Sign up for something here.
Yourself. This is a great time to get better acquainted with your fellow runners. So if you feel a little lost on Wednesday nights in this giant group of runners - plan on joining us for this fun annual event.
1/2 Marathon Training
Every year since 2004, East Nasty has offered 1/2 marathon training geared toward the Country Music 1/2 Marathon. This year is no different and we'll be starting on January 8th at 9 am at the nature center at Shelby Bottoms.
More details will be coming soon, but while our training is free, the country music marathon is not. So if you are planning on running you need to sign up before January 1. The organizers of the race were kind enough to offer us a discount code for $10 off online registration. Use the code CMMCLUB when you sign up on line. They also told me that they were going to have some sort of discount mid-December. Here is the website. I'm not sure what they are going to offer mid-December, JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU SIGN UP BEFORE 2012 TO SAVE YOURSELF $30.
New Route
This week we will be crossing the pedestrian bridge as part of a brand new route. We are basically going to cross the bridge and head up Demonbreun as far as you want to go before turning around and retracing your steps. Check out the map of Route #3 to make your own plan. If you go all the way around the round-about it will be 6.5 miles.
